Katha (story behind artefact): In the heart of Gond art lies a profound connection with nature, eloquently embodied in Agam. The tree, a revered motif, stands tall, symbolizing the bond between humans and the natural world. Its branches, adorned with vibrant Gond patterns, tell stories of life’s interconnectedness. And framed by the couple dancing within the starkly bold Dokra frame the interplay of these two styles narrates the joy of nature within our lives. Beside these boughs, a clock – not just a timekeeper, but a symbol of nature’s perpetual rhythm – finds its place. As time advances, the clock’s hands dance in harmony with the tree’s timeless wisdom. This unique piece harmonizes nature’s elegance with Gond’s vibrant narrative, bringing art, culture, and time together in perfect unison.
Riti (method): The confluence of the Gond and the Dokra styles is perfectly showcased in this artefact. The Gond style is created through glass-painting, created inhouse by our artisans utilising their incredible eyes for detail. The Dokra style is cast through wax into moulds in a centuries-old process known as Bharai Kaam. Thus, these two styles succeed in invoking a sense of collectiveness and relationship in their simultaneity.
