Katha (story behind artefact): The haat is a long-standing Indian tradition of celebration, a way for every individual to exhibit their talents in front of their collective. This haat is picturised in the Warli style, perfect for amplifying the sense of community and exuberance in the frame. Below this glass-painted depiction are two Dokra frames, reflecting this community through the figures standing together in collaboration. Witness the exchange of the two styles, the two materials of glass and metal to inspire your place in your own ecosystem, and your interaction with your neighbors!
Riti (method): The confluence of the Warli and the Dokra styles is perfectly showcased in this artefact. The Warli style is created through glass-painting, created inhouse by our artisans utilising their incredible eyes for detail. The Dokra style is cast through wax into moulds in a centuries-old process known as Bharai Kaam. Thus, these two styles succeed in invoking a sense of collectiveness and relationship in their simultaneity.
