Madhubani painting is a style practiced in the Mithila region of Nepal and in the Indian state of Bihar. The art form focusses heavily on the two great epics of the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, recreating stories through vibrant colours and designs.
Dokra, locally known as Bharaikaam, is the art of sculpting brass with the ancient technique of wax casting. The metal is cast into crafted moulds, which the tribals create themselves, in their furnaces and with their specialized tools. Practiced in West Bengal, Orissa and Madhya Pradesh, this metal craft finds different forms of expressions, each art form uniquely different in style and manifestation from the others.
